When I grow up...


I want to be like Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick of Mich. 13th District. I had an opportunity to meet the congresswoman yesterday along with a few other members of the CBC at an event on the Hill. She was tall, well styled and seemed very happy. What really impressed me was her staff around her. This lady had those men in check. She had one following not to far behind her. He had an ear piece for his cell phone, carried her folder and bag, and received all of the business cards people were passing to her. I also saw her as she left the Capitol. They made sure she met her driver, put her in the car and then they walked back to the office as she rode away. From the front seat she gave me and my co-workers a final wave before she left. It was actually quite ovah. I mean you know the woman is amazing...especially winning an election while her criminal son, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick of Detroit, was embroiled in controversy. Personally, I would've had his ass killed. Strong, bright, and always in a pump...who wouldn't want to be this lady!





I want to be Miuccia Prada. Miuccia Prada is an Italian fashion designer (Prada, Miu Miu) and entrepreneur. She also has a Ph.D. in Political Science. The youngest granddaughter of Prada founder Mario Prada, she and her husband, Patrizio Bertelli, took over the family-owned luxury goods manufacturer in 1978. Since then, they've turned it into a fashion powerhouse, acquiring Jil Sander, Helmut Lang and shoemaker Church & Co. It's just so ovah for her. And, I love that she has her PhD in PoliSci. It makes me believe that political minds can succeed in any arena...watch out!
